Steampunk is a subgenre of science fiction that typically
features steam-powered machinery, especially in a setting inspired by
industrialized Western civilization during the 19th century. The “punk” in
“Steampunk” comes from going against convention that, through creativity and
declaration of one’s individuality be it through style, gadgets, or attitude,
sets one apart.
